EMC End of Service Life (EOSL) Dates
Current end of service life dates for EMC and Dell EMC storage, backup and SAN hardware, covering Isilon, VMAX, VNX, Unity, XtremIO, Data Domain, Avamar and Connectrix. Dates here are verified against Dell lifecycle documentation rather than aggregated from third party trackers. When Dell stops supporting a platform, Scale Service does not.
Most of the EMC platforms listed below have already passed their end of service life date. Search the table for your model, or get in touch if you do not see it.

Dell EMC uses End of Service Life for the final support milestone. End of life and end of support are earlier, separate milestones, and the gap between the first and the last is usually years rather than months.
EOL, EOS and EOSL explained, including what each manufacturer calls it
What happens after your EMC hardware passes EOSL
Once a platform reaches EOSL, Dell will no longer supply replacement parts, issue firmware or security updates, or escalate a fault to engineering. In practice most organisations run into one of three things first.
A renewal quote that has climbed steeply
Often alongside a proposal to refresh onto current hardware.
A hardware failure with no route to a replacement part
The array is running, the part is not available, and there is no escalation path.
A compliance requirement the platform can no longer satisfy
An audit or policy requiring supported infrastructure.
None of these means the hardware has stopped working. Storage arrays routinely run well past their EOSL date. What ends is the manufacturer obligation to keep them running.
Support for EMC hardware after EOSL
Scale Service supports EMC and Dell EMC hardware after Dell support ends, across the platforms listed above: Isilon, VMAX, VNX, Unity, XtremIO, Data Domain, Avamar, Centera and Connectrix.
- Service level24x7x4 onsite SLA
- Spare partsOnsite spares
- EngineeringCertified engineers across array, host and SAN environments, covering both structured and unstructured data
- Typical saving30-70% against a Dell renewal, depending on platform and contract
Support is one option. When you are ready to move on, we also supply refurbished replacement hardware and buy back or securely dispose of what you retire.
Common questions
What does support after EOSL cost compared with a Dell renewal?
Typically 30-70% less, depending on the platform and the shape of the contract. The gap tends to be widest on hardware that is several years past its EOSL date, where OEM renewal pricing climbs steeply.
Can I keep running EMC hardware after its EOSL date?
Yes. EOSL is a support milestone, not a shutdown. The hardware continues to operate. What ends is the Dell obligation to supply parts, patches and engineering support, which is the gap Scale Service fills.
How accurate are these EOSL dates?
Every date on this page is verified against Dell lifecycle documentation. Third party EOSL trackers are frequently wrong, and we have found published dates off by three to four months in cases we checked directly against the manufacturer.
Do you support Isilon beyond the standard warranty period?
Yes, including OneFS environments past year three, which is where most Isilon support conversations begin.
Which EMC platforms do you cover?
Isilon, VMAX, VNX, Unity, XtremIO, Data Domain, Avamar, Centera and Connectrix, along with the models listed above. If your platform is not listed it is still worth asking.
